The Renaissance Amsterdam Hotel has the position of Director of Finance available.

What are my responsibilities?

As the Director of Finance you are the strategic financial business leader for the property and you are a part of the Executive Committee. As DOF you are responsible for achieving our financial goals. The position champions, develops and implements property-wide strategies that deliver products and services to meet or exceed the needs and expectations of the brand’s target customer and property ambassadors. The position provides the financial expertise to enable the successful implementation of the brand service strategy and brand initiatives while maximizing the return on investment. In addition, creates and executes a business plan that is aligned with the brand’s business strategy and focuses on the execution of financial and accounting activities and the delivery of desirable financial results.

What are we looking for?

Strategic Planning and Decision-making:–Develops a strategy to improve profit, has a strong capability to analyze and compile information to support the business and to work closely together with the operations to develop effective strategies.

Leading:

– Utilizes interpersonal and excellent communication skills to lead and encourage the Finance team. Demonstrates honesty, integrity, and leads by example.

– Provides excellent leadership by assigning team members and other department managers clear accountability backed by appropriate authority.

Anticipating and Delivering on the needs of the key holders:

– Understands and meets the needs of all stakeholders, owners, corporate, guests and associates.

– Manages working capital of cash flow and owner priorities.

Developing and Maintaining Finance:

– Ensure P&L are processed and taxes are dealt with accordingly and submits reports in a timely manner.

– Develops and supports achievement of performance goals, budget goals, team goals, etc.

Managing Projects and Policies:

– Ensures that the P&L is accurate (e.g., costs are properly matched to revenue; costs are recorded in the proper accounts).

– Ensures compliance with management contract and reporting requirements.

– Ensures compliance with standard and local operating procedures.

– Ensures compliance with standard operating procedures.

Managing and Conducting Human Resource Activities:

– Ensures team members are cross-trained to support successful daily operations.

– Ensures property policies are administered fairly and consistently.

– Ensures new ambassadors receive the appropriate new hire training to successfully perform their job.

– Creates appropriate development plans, which develop team members based on their individual strengths, development needs, career aspirations and abilities.

– Conduct performance review process for ambassadors.

– Participates in hiring activities as appropriate.

To be eligible for this position you…

  • Can communicate in English and preferably another language.

  • Have experience with a reservation system (experience with Opera is preferable).

  • Have computer hardware and software skills (word processing software, personal computers, etc.)

  • Have experience in working in a hotel and are very hospitable.–Have a high sense of responsibility.

A major investment has been made in the hotel which will result in completely renovated guest rooms and public areas, including a brand-new bar, restaurant and rooftop bar & terrace. The hotel will expand from 402 to 500 rooms and an additional conference center will be constructed. The Renaissance Amsterdam Hotel has a very high focus on sustainability and will aim to become an enhancement to the city of Amsterdam.
