Your mission as Management Food and Drink Intern

As a Management Intern for the Waldorf Astoria Amsterdam, you will play a pivotal role in creating an exceptional guest experience in line with the Waldorf Astoria Sincerely Elegant Service Standards. You are considered for you senior experience and advanced academic profile. Your responsibilities will include supporting the management team, ensuring smooth operations, and providing guests with personalized, memorable experiences. May you need be, you could be empowered by our Food and Drink Manager to take on a project and tackle a challenge at the heart of our operations. Your hospitality flair and in-depth knowledge of the hotel's benefits, facilities, and experiences will make you the go-to expert for both guests and colleagues. What will I be doing?

 

Uphold Service Standards: Ensure a consistent and exemplary standard of service, adhering to all Waldorf Astoria policies and standards.

Operational Support: Actively contribute to the seamless operation of the hotel, providing support across various departments as needed.

Guest Relations: Oversee the care of guests from their arrival to departure, ensuring their experience meets the highest standards.

Technical Operations: Know how to operate all necessary technical equipment used in daily operations.

Shift Coordination: Take over from the previous shift, ensuring you are informed about the volume of business, VIP guests, pending tasks, and special events.

Execution of Instructions: Diligently and accurately execute instructions from management, ensuring all tasks are completed efficiently.

Cost Efficiency: Guarantee a cost-conscious approach to all tasks, maintaining efficient use of resources.

Professional Development: Participate in internal meetings and training courses to enhance your skills and knowledge.

Promote Waldorf Astoria Amsterdam Services: Actively promote in-house sales by maintaining comprehensive knowledge of all hotel services, including opening hours and promotions across all food and beverage outlets.

System Proficiency: Be proficient in using the Micros cash system, ensuring correct booking and cashing up for all services provided.

Menu and Promotions Knowledge: Maintain full knowledge of regular and promotional menus, wine lists, and any other promotions.

Effective Communication: Communicate clearly, politely, and efficiently with team members, keeping them informed about different promotions and relevant information via Outlook or the notice board. 

Who are we looking for?

  • Passion for Food and Drink and luxury service
  • Self-driven and proactive attitude
  • Creative profile and taking initiatives 
  • Student currently enrolled in an MBO or HBO education, preferably Hotelschool
  • Internship: a minimum period of 6 months.
  • Eligibility to work in the Netherlands (student of Dutch Hotelschool or EU nationality)

  • Certificates such as the WSET 1/2/3/4 demonstrating motivation towards
