Your Role as Junior Sous Chef

As Junior Sous Chef, you’re an indispensable part of our kitchen. Acting as the right-hand to the Sous Chef and Head Chef, you take ownership of your section. No dish leaves the kitchen without your approval – you ensure quality, perfect presentation, and inspire your team to deliver their very best.

At Café Jakarta, we blend authentic Indonesian flavors with modern techniques. Imagine colorful and flavorful dishes, fresh fruits de mer from our oyster bar, and panoramic views of the IJ from our large terrace. You’ll be at the heart of this dynamic environment, contributing daily to the ultimate guest experience.

You’ll work closely with the Sous Chef and F&B Manager to discuss planning, menus, and operational processes. Together, you’ll ensure everything runs smoothly. But your role goes beyond that – you’ll also be a coach and mentor, training your team, sharing your knowledge, and helping everyone grow.

What Will You Do?

• Oversee your section and ensure everything operates efficiently.
• Actively contribute to menu development and creative presentations.
• Manage food costs, inventory control, and budget compliance.
• Coordinate daily operations and team scheduling.
• Coach, motivate, and train colleagues in the art of cooking.
• Ensure seamless collaboration between breakfast, lunch, dinner, and banqueting services.
• Take charge at the pass to maintain oversight and support wherever needed.
