Doka is an underground and intimate sound bar where the night, music and other forms of culture come together. Doka's programme is the result of collaborations with Broedplaats VKG – the creative hub behind Volkshotel – and artistic talent within and outside Amsterdam. This makes Doka the living room and extension of DJs, artists, live bands and other creatives.

For Doka we are looking for an experienced (club) manager. Club nights take place every Friday and Saturday night and there are cultural events and live concerts with emerging alternative acts during the week on a regular basis. You ensure that everything runs smoothly in Doka and that the guests are satisfied. Do you find satisfaction in helping others feel at ease, and do you have at least 2 years of managerial work experience in a club/bar? Then you might become our new colleague.

Responsibilities:

You are responsible for the daily ins and outs of Doka and the proper execution of events, cultural and music programmes;
You are operationally working as a host or bar employee at night;
You ensure a safe, inclusive and accessible club experience;
You optimize work processes and services and monitor internal procedures and regulations within the established frameworks;
You are the direct contact person for external parties (organizers, security, etc.) and the first point of contact in case of calamities in the department;
You keep stocks, make purchases and have contact with suppliers;
You are responsible for hiring, motivating and scheduling the Doka team.

What we ask:

You have at least 2 years of managerial work experience in a club/bar;
You have a first aid diploma;
It is an advantage if you are already a “Leermeester” and have gained experience in this;
You have excellent knowledge of drinks and cocktails;
You speak Dutch and English;
You live in Amsterdam; (or surrounding area)
You like to tackle things and you want to work at a creative and progressive place;
You are organised, critical, have a good overview and eye for detail and take decisive decisions when necessary;
You are someone who is also able to work in the evening, night and weekend. You’ll combine 0.5 to 1 day at the office with at least 2.5 shifts on the floor.
