As a Manager on Duty, you fully pamper the guests and you are the link in the web between all operational departments.
A day as...
You feel like a spider in the web again today! After all, you are the point of contact for the hotel. You have a nice morning shift at the weekend, read the transfers after your days off and are up to date again. You walk around the hotel, joining the handovers of Front Office, Housekeeping and Restaurant EAST. You check whether everything is ready before the start of breakfast and check whether the hotel entrance looks neat, so that you can welcome all guests to the hotel lobby with peace of mind. With a smile you greet the first guests you see coming out of the elevator and you start your first tour through the corridors where students live. Oops, there was obviously a party last night. There's confetti everywhere! You can resolve this without any problems with the students involved and your colleague from Facility. You then check a number of newly renovated rooms for their cleanliness and maintenance, you critically complete the checklist, share your feedback with the departments involved, you ensure that the bed is straightened and the coffee amenities are replenished.
Suddenly the fire alarm goes off! You will be at the reception in no time, fortunately you and the shift leader have already coordinated the tasks at the start of the shift on what you will do in the event of a fire alarm. Fortunately, it turns out to be a false alarm from a guest who smoked in the room. Naturally, you will not avoid a discussion and give the guest a smoking fine. This is how we keep the hotel safe for everyone! Once back at reception, there is a screaming guest complaining that he did not sleep well in the room that was too hot. You resolve this complaint perfectly in consultation with the guest and they check out satisfied. Feeling satisfied, you have a nice lunch and finish your rounds, prepare the VIP rooms, and ensure that all your colleagues and guests continue to feel safe and welcome. Before you go home, update your room hygiene project in consultation with the Housekeeping Manager. On the way to that department, you walk through the lobby and shake up the cushions on the couches. Hey, great, your shift is over! You transfer your MOD service to your fellow MODs and enjoy your shift with your colleagues with a Gabbe Wit Beer in the student lounge!
