Volkshotel is a place for single mums, dandies, artists and night owls. A place where there’s life 24/7 and creativity flows. In Volkshotel, locals and travelers gather to eat, drink, work, sleep and play. With Werkplaats (café & co-working spaces), Doka (sound bar), Canvas (restaurant on the 7th floor), Broedplaats VKG (85 work spaces for creative minds) and 201 hotel rooms, this former newspaper building is more than just a place for tourists to sleep. The reasonable prices and easy-going vibe make Volkshotel a place for everyone.

We are looking for someone to perform reception duties at Volkshotel, who has multitasking as a second nature. From early morning until late at night, the Volkshotel is a venue for breakfast, lunch, dinner, cocktails and, of course, a place to spend the night. The reception is the information hub and a place to meet as well. Are you keen to work in a creative and international environment and do you prefer the company of people? Then you may be the new reception and reservations colleague we are looking for.

Are you:

Hospitable, able to work under pressure and also representative?
Living in Amsterdam?
Fluent in Dutch and English and do you perhaps speak another language?
Flexible and also available at weekends and evenings?

This is what your average day looks like:

Want to do some exercise before your shift starts? That is possible. All employees have free access to weekly Volkshotel yoga lessons. Afterwards your shift starts, during which you will be the face of Volkshotel, checking in and out hotel guests with a smile. In addition, you are the first point of contact for all other visitors in the building. Does your guest wish to rent a bike? You make it possible. Does someone wish to reserve a table at the Canvas restaurant for tonight? No problem, you will see to it. Furthermore, you will answer any questions via email and telephone, carry out basic administrative tasks and process (conference) room reservations for companies. In case of calamities, you will be the first person to take action and activate the company emergency plan. This makes every day different form the other. Want to linger after your shift? Make use of our hot tubs and sauna on the eighth floor. You can make free use of it. You don’t want to go home yet? You don’t need to, as an employee you get a discount on everything (programming, rooms, food & drink) in the hotel.

Your efficiency, reliability and your contribution to the team spirit
You are willing to do a subsequent night shift if necessary
Experience in a similar position and being familiar with the PMS system IDPMS is an advantage

It is a position for a minimum of 16 hours per week. Salary in conformity with the hospitality industry CLA and in accordance with your responsibilities. As an employee of Volkshotel you can stay at the hotel one night per year for free.
