What can you expect

The Front Office team is responsible for welcoming guests, check in and out procedures and offering information and service. The Front Office team is also responsible for guiding guests to their rooms and handling payments.

As a receptionist you will make guests feel welcome and satisfied with the hotel and their room. Your tasks consist of assisting and checking in and out guests. At Hotel Okura Amsterdam, the Okura standards are applied, being based on the standards of The Leading Hotels of the World. Your main tasks will be:

  • The welcoming of guests in a friendly and courteous manner and showing guest recognition as much as possible;
  • The checking in and checking out of guests in an efficient and professional manner, according to the hotel procedures and standards of The Leading Hotels of the World;
  • The registration of guests according to hotel procedures;
  • Maintain contact with the guests and handle accordingly to complaints, request and inquiries to ensure that the high standards are being delivered;
  • Inform Housekeeping and Room service in regards to early check-ins, late check-outs and room changes;
  • Remain informed of all (daily) activities, meetings and events within Hotel Okura Amsterdam;
  • Answer internal and external phone calls in an efficient and courteous manner;
  • Report possible unusual occurrences and requests to the Front Office Supervisor or Front Office Manager;
  • Attend shift briefings and monthly departmental meetings.

Don't worry you will not be working alone. Besides working in your own team, you will also work with other departments in the hotel. Work is carried out in shifts throughout a 7-day work week with times such as: 07:00 – 15:00, 11:00 – 19:00 and 15:00 – 23:00. You will work 5 days per week, 7.6 hours a day. You are available to work on holidays.

What are we asking?

Of course, we are first and foremost interested in you and what we as an employer can do for you to provide a great workplace. Nevertheless we expect from you that:

  • You possess a (Middelbare) Hotelschool diploma;
  • Experience (1-2 years) within a similar position within the Front Office;
  • Fluent in both Dutch and English (oral and written);
  • Knowledge of German, French and Spanish is an advantage;
  • Knowledge of the Opera system is an advantage;

Front Office Receptionist

The Front Office team is responsible for welcoming our guests, check in and - out procedures and providing information and service. The Front Office team is also responsible for guiding guests to their rooms and handling guest payments. 

Don’t worry, you’re not alone! The Front Office team consists of around 30 employees; one Front Office Manager, one Assistant Front Office Manager, six Front Office Supervisors, six Receptionistes, two Guest Relations Officers, one Head Conciërge, tree Conciërges, one Doormen, one Allround Porter and two Trainees.

Work is carried out in shifts during 7 days a week.  You work 7 days a week, 7,6 hours a day. You are also available to work on public holidays.  The shifts are as followed 08:00-16:00 hours, 12:00-20:00 hours, 15:00-23:00 hours.

What are you going to do?

    Working in the FO department is challenging work. No day is the same and in order to keep our service to our guests as high as possible, we work very closely within our team but also with other teams.
