Volkshotel is looking for an enthusiastic sous chef. From early in the morning until late at night, Volkshotel is a place for breakfast, lunch, dinner and cocktails. With restaurant Canvas, cafe Werkplaats and many events, Volkshotel is a diverse place to work as a sous chef. In this position you are directly under the supervision of the executive chef and you are jointly responsible for all things food related. Do you enjoy working in a creative and international environment and do you have at least two years of relevant work experience as a chef or sous chef? Then you might become our new colleague.


Responsibilities:


  • You will take the lead of the team together with our other sous chef and manage the daily operations of our restaurants Canvas, Café Werkplaats, and the food events at the Volkshotel.
  • You will handle HR matters, schedule staff, and conduct performance reviews.
  • You are responsible for labor productivity and inventory management.
  • You will collaborate with the executive chef on menu changes, where you can showcase your creativity.
  • You will train and motivate the kitchen team.
  • You will ensure a pleasant working environment in which we comply with all HACCP standards.


What we ask:


  • At least two years of relevant work experience as a chef or sous chef
  • You are organized and have good leadership qualities
  • You are flexible, socially skilled and speak Dutch and/or decent English
  • You have experience with large banqueting events


What we offer:


It concerns a job for 38 hours a week. Salary is in accordance with the horeca CAO scale 7. As an employee of Volkshotel you can spend a night in the hotel every year for free.
