What does a Sous Chef do?
The Sous Chef, a key figure in the kitchen, is the right hand of the Head Chef and holds more responsibility than a line chef. This role demands extensive knowledge of all aspects of the kitchen, from fish preparation to desserts. Typically, several years of experience are required. The Sous Chef is actively involved in preparing dishes, developing and testing new recipes, and assisting the Head Chef in maintaining the quality of both products and dishes. This role shares many similarities with other kitchen positions, such as Chef de Partie, Commis de Chef, and Demi Chef de Partie.
