The 5-star Mainport Hotel Rotterdam is internally connected with the 4-star Maashotel Rotterdam Centre, forming the largest hotel complex in Rotterdam and one of the largest in the BeNeLux region. Together, these iconic hotels offer 480 rooms, fitness and spa facilities, and 26,000 m² of space for organizing meetings and events. Located on the banks of the river Maas in the center of Rotterdam, the hotels provide stunning views of the Erasmus Bridge and the city skyline. Both hotels are part of the Hilton Honors program and will be rebranded as DoubleTree by Hilton Rotterdam Centre and Mainport Curio Collection by Hilton in 2024.

Job Scope

Cycas Hospitality is seeking an on-site Financial Controller to oversee the financial operations of these prestigious hotels, ensuring compliance with financial procedures and enhancing profitability. The Financial Controller will work closely with the hotel management team and coordinate communication with external parties including suppliers, customers, owners, and the off-property team.

Key Job Responsibilities

Forecasting and Profitability:

• Assist the General Manager in preparing the annual budget and monthly forecasts, coordinating with Heads of Departments (HoDs) and the off-property Business Controller.
• Support the GM in interpreting financial results, identifying and mitigating variances from the budget.
• Prepare weekly forecasts and gather data for scenario analysis.
• Review and optimize costs, providing insights on procurement, stock, and business flowthrough.
• Monitor departmental budget expenditures.
• Conduct ad hoc analyses as requested by HoDs, GM, or the off-property Business Controller.

Compliance & Controls:

• Ensure daily execution of cashier, night audit, and income audit procedures in line with internal and brand requirements.
• Support GM/HoDs with weekly Full-Time Equivalent (FTE) planning through ad hoc reports and analysis.
• Oversee weekly cash planning.
• Ensure timely and accurate invoicing, aligning with contract terms.
• Conduct credit meetings with relevant departments and oversee the credit collection process.
• Assist HoDs in the tender process for key supplier appointments.
• Coordinate month-end closing processes, ensuring smooth collaboration between HoDs and off-site functions.
• Maintain operational platforms (procurement, time & attendance, PMS system, etc.).
• Liaise with external stock takers and auditors as needed.
• Initiate desktop audits of hotel procedures.
• Promote awareness of financial procedures and proper data retention and storage within the hotels.

People Management:

• Supervise 1 FTE focused on cashier duties and daily revenue review.

Skills and Qualifications

• Passionate Professional with 3-5 years of experience in the hotel industry and/or hotel financial roles.
• Dynamic Innovator, adaptable individual who can respond to business needs.
• Data-Driven Decision Maker, capable of supporting business decisions with accurate data and critical thinking.
• Effective Communicator, able to build and maintain relationships within the hotel and with external parties.
• Fluent in English (Dutch is a plus).
• EU Citizen or valid work permit holder for the Netherlands.
