We have a fantastic new vacancy for a Maitre d’ at the fabulous Café Americain. Ramses Shaffy drank his beer, Harry Mülisch read the newspaper and Mata Hari held her wedding dinner here. An opportunity to work in Amsterdam’s famous Art Deco restaurant, which is part the Clayton Hotel Amsterdam American.

As Maitre d’, it is up to you to make every guest and employee feel special. You are the face of Café Americain and you know how to keep the atmosphere and quality of Café Americain high every day. By constantly interacting with your team, you are always aware of everything that is going on at Café Americain.

Objective of the Role

Reporting to the Deputy General Manager, the Maitre d’ will manage Café Americain and take full ownership of its service operations. You maintain a proper overview of the accurate planning and you assure that the entire team is accordingly trained and happy in their roles

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• People leadership, including recruiting, retaining and developing employees;
• Set targets for the restaurant team in line with the overall departmental and hotel objectives;
• Manage the budget and cost effectiveness of the department;
• Maintaining the highest standards on Health & Safety;
• Assuring correct planning to the business.

Requirements

• Previous managerial experience in a high volume/ fast paced restaurant environment;
• Excellent Leadership skills;
• Experience in recruiting and developing employees;
• High standards and attention to detail;
• An excellent focus on our customers and our team;
• Excellent communication skills;
• Dutch language is preferable.
