Jaz in the City is a vibrant and trendy lifestyle hotel located in a unique spot in Amsterdam! This hotel stands for the ultimate guest experience, our so-called Superstar Experience. As an enthusiastic Front Office Supervisor, you play a crucial role in this. Are you up for the job? Read on!

With an ideal location next to the Ziggo Dome, opposite the Johan Cruijff Arena, and within walking distance of AFAS Live, Jaz in the City Amsterdam offers a front-row seat to a unique hotel experience.


GENERAL

As the Rooms Division Manager, also known as the Chief Guest Entertainer, you lead by example, sharing your expertise and inspiring your team. Your main goal is to enhance guest satisfaction while ensuring the smooth completion of all front office tasks.

Familiar with the Jaz in the City brand and communication style, you interact professionally and courteously with guests and visitors. You report directly to the General Manager, also known as the Band Leader.


JOB DUTIES

  • Build and manage an efficient front office team, including recruitment, performance evaluations, and managing leave.
  • Oversee and manage the front office budget, monitoring and adjusting as needed.
  • Lead onboarding and training processes for front office staff and oversee the housekeeping department.
  • Handle daily administration, monitor team performance, and address areas for improvement.
  • Train and coach the front desk team, ensuring smooth operations and problem resolution.
  • Ensure accurate room status communication and allocate rooms based on guest preferences.
  • Conduct pre-shift briefings, manage team schedules, and adjust labor needs as required.
  • Manage inventory and order supplies as needed.
  • Welcome guests upon arrival, ensuring they feel at home, and handle check-outs with a focus on guest satisfaction.
  • Use upselling techniques for room nights and restaurant reservations.
  • Handle financial transactions and respond to guest inquiries professionally.
  • Resolve guest issues efficiently to maintain high satisfaction levels.
  • Communicate key information to colleagues and complete checklists.


OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ensure effective use of spaces, inventory, and equipment.
  • Serve as the go-to person for complex issues and supervise the front office team.
  • Develop communication and reporting procedures for smooth service implementation.
  • Stay updated on industry trends and review procedures for operational efficiency.
  • Build strong relationships with other departments, like the Booking Office and Housekeeping.
  • Be ready to support any front office role during peak times or in the absence of Duty Managers.
  • Maintain a clean and organized Front of House and report maintenance issues.
  • Ensure safety procedures are followed, and report any suspicious activities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.


SKILLS AND ATTRIBUTES

The Chief Guest Entertainer has a positive attitude, focused on providing extraordinary guest experiences. With experience in leading successful teams, they inspire and set an example for others, allowing room for growth and improvement.

They exercise sound judgment, are confident in decision-making, and know when to seek further clarification. As an ambassador of Jaz in the City, they align with the brand's concept and communication style.

They are flexible, solution-focused, and maintain composure under pressure. Excellent communication skills in English and Dutch are essential, with the ability to listen actively and ask relevant questions.


Knowledge of PMS (preferably Opera) is required, along with proficiency in another language. A certificate of conduct is mandatory, and certifications in Social Hygiene and as a Leermeester are preferred.
