Eden Hotels is part of the Dutch Eden Hotel Group, a family-owned business that has been operating since 1947. The first Eden Hotel was opened in Groningen under the name Hotel Dijkstra, followed shortly by a successful location in Zwolle. In 1977, the group expanded with a new hotel on the Amstel in Amsterdam. After a period of partnership under the Hampshire name, the hotels returned to the Eden Hotels brand in 2018.
